We seek an experienced Java developer with expertise in one or more aspects of scientific programming, including algorithm development, simulation modeling, and statistical methods. We’re a fun and dynamic startup, with a team of people who work together on everything from the latest AJAX front-end technologies to solid database design. If you join our team, you’ll work in our agile engineering group, contributing your expertise to all aspects of the software, with a special focus on our internal algorithms and simulation models.
Desired Experience:
- 3+ years of Java Enterprise Edition development experience

Expertise with one or more of:
- financial or scientific algorithm development,
- simulation modeling,
- agent-based modeling,
- optimization techniques,
- computational social science
- Familiarity with multivariate statistical methods is a plus
- Deep understanding of software development best practices, design principles, and software maintainability
- Experience with relational databases including transaction management, tuning and scalability, JDBC, and Hibernate

Particular Expertise with the following technologies:
- Java EE applications
- Relational databases
- XML technologies (WSDL, XML, SOAP or REST, Spring)
- Client side technologies (XHTML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, GWT, AJAX, DOM, Web 2.0 technologies and platforms)
- Experience with Ant, Hudson, Linux, is a plus
